Does Flowpoint Paving Grout Cause Staining?

Flowpoint Paving Grout does not cause staining or efflorescence—as long as it’s installed correctly and the manufacturer’s guidelines are followed.
However, staining can occur if key steps are skipped during installation. Most issues are caused by:

• Not using a paving primer (like Ultrascape Pro-Prime)
• Failing to mist the paving slabs with water during installation
• Over-watering the grout mix, or allowing water to pool on slabs or in joints

These mistakes can lead to grout haze, patchy discolouration, or dried grout residue on the surface—difficult to remove once cured.

How to Prevent Flowpoint Grout Stains

Follow these simple tips to keep your patio grout looking clean and professional:

1. Use a quality paving primer
   Apply a cement-based primer such as Ultrascape Pro-Prime to bond slabs to the mortar bed and prevent stains from seeping through.
2. Mist the slabs during application
   Lightly spray the paving with water using a rose nozzle or kitchen sprayer throughout the process. This helps control drying and prevents staining.
3. Avoid excess water
   Do not over-wet the grout mix or allow water to sit on the slabs or joints. Excess water causes surface staining, cracking, and uneven finishes.
4. Use a neoprene squeegee
   Push the grout firmly into the joints and remove as much as possible from the slab surface for a clean, even result.

Shelf life from date of manufacture printed on the bag, unopened in the above conditions, for sealed bags is 8 months. Please note: the use of this product after the end of the declared storage period may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
