UltraCrete Instant Road Repair 10mm is the world’s ‘Number One’ Pothole Repair Material, that can be used in any weather and be trafficked immediately. Instant Road Repair is a HAPAS Approved permanent cold lay surfacing asphalt which offers a first time permanent tarmac repair in type 3 & 4 roads, footways, footpaths and cycle tracks. When used in conjunction with SCJ Cold Joint Spray it forms an impenetrable bond to stop water ingress and ensure a long lasting repair to your pothole.

UltraCrete Instant Road Repair 10mm grade is designed for permanent repairs in type 3 and 4 roads, footways, footpaths and cycle tracks. It has been HAPAS approved since 2002. Instant Road Repair offers contractors a first time permanent repair, meaning that roads can be instantly opened to traffic creating minimal disruption to motorists & pedestrians. UltraCrete Instant Road Repair is regularly specified for use by local authorities to fill what is estimated to be over 900,000 potholes reported in the UK every year.

Ultracrete SCJ Cold Joint Spray is a sealer applied onto the vertical edges & surface base of a pothole before the application of cold lay tarmac or asphalt. SCJ prevents water ingress which improves the bond and prolongs the life of the pothole repair. Use Instant Road Repair & SCJ together to provide a complete reinstatement system which can save you vital time and money!

Instant Road Repair 10mm Technical Details:

  • Suitable for planned repairs
  • Can be used in all weathers - even in the wet
  • Combine with SCJ Seal and Tack spray for a permanent repair
  • Depth: 30 – 100mm
  • Resealable Buckets – zero waste
  • IRR is approved for use on the London Underground and Overground
  • Satisfactory for use as a PCSM in accordance with Appendix A2.4 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 : Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH)
  • Comes in 25kg plastic bucket or bags
  • Shelf Life: 6 months from date of manufacture in sealed units. Once opened, all material should be used up. (DOM usually found on the lid or side of tub or bag. For queries please contact us).

SCJ Cold Joint Spray technical information

How do I apply IRR 10mm and SCJ Cold Joint Spray?

  1. Saw cut a ‘picture frame’ around the repair or reinstatement area.
  2. Ensure the area is clear of debris.
  3. Seal vertical edges and substrate with SCJ Cold Joint Spray. Reinstatements requiring up to 100mm in depth can be achieved by using the layer-on-layer method.
  4. Apply the product to a depth of approximately 45mm and compact to 30mm in order to achieve your first layer.
  5. Re-apply SCJ Cold Joint Spray to vertical edges before a second layer of Instant Road Repair 10mm is applied.
  6. Repeat step 4.
  7. Re-apply SCJ to vertical edges.
  8. Finally apply a 60mm layer and compact to 40mm to provide the final surface course.
Please Note: All compaction should be carried out in accordance with Appendix 8 of the SROH 2010. If over-banding is required, apply UltraCrete Instaband ECO.
