Instagrip: Anti-Skid Patch Repair

Instagrip is ideal for the patching and reinstating of high friction areas after maintenance work has taken place. It is perfect for use on pedestrian crossings, junctions, roundabouts, footbridges, subways, steel plates and manhole covers.

  • Calculation based on 1.5m² per 15kg tub assuming smooth surface. Coverage will be affected by surface texture

Technical information

Instagrip is a two-part solvent free polyurethane resin system, dressed with calcined bauxite aggregate. The product conforms to the Specification for Highways Works, clause 924 and Chapter 6 High Friction Surfacing of the Specification for the Reinstatement of openings in Highways, for resin-based skid resistant surface treatments. Important notes

Instagrip is supplied as a two-component system in pre-weighed packs. The resin has a pot life of between 10 and 20 minutes dependant on the ambient temperature and humidity. The aggregate is supplied with the pack. Do not add the aggregate to the resin. The maximum application area on smooth surfaces is 1.5m2 per pack. On more open or textured surfaces the pack coverage area will be reduced. Note: If the maximum application area is exceeded, this will result in failure of the system. Avoid usage in temperatures below 5°C and above 30°C.

How to mix and apply Instagrip Anti-Skid Patch Repair

Wearing the disposable gloves provided in the pack:
  1. Mix the two components together by adding the full contents of the activator bottle to the resin base in the tub. DO NOT part mix.
  2. Mix the two parts thoroughly by means of the wooden spatula provided.
  3. After mixing, pour the resin out onto the area marked out within the masking tape with the plastic applicator.
  4. Spread out the resin mixture until the area is fully covered, paying particular attention to the edges and corners.
  5. The aggregate should be scattered onto the resin as soon as possible, before it begins to set.
  6. Any resin bleed should be covered by aggregate.
  7. Once fully set, sweep the excess aggregate away.
  8. After completion, the surface should not be opened to traffic or otherwise disturbed until the binder has completely cured, typically 1 to 2 hours depending on temperature and humidity.
